SUMMARY This position is responsible for the management of the company's transportation fleet across the United States. This individual will oversee and maintain all driver performance files and records, all DOT and OSHA regulations, all fleet vehicle maintenance, and training. Helps drive/promote policies and procedures that will help driving staff become more proficient.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Work with Maintenance vendors to remedy service failures, service issues and regularly scheduled maintenance.
•Participate in the recruitment, selection and discipline of maintenance personnel as required.
•Ensure employee adherence to established policies and procedures with special emphasis on those concerning personal and equipment safety.
•Oversee company satellite offices maintain compliance with all record keeping.
•Complete special projects and perform other duties as needed.
•Ensure maintenance records for fleet are accurate and current.
•Implement preventative maintenance programs to ensure maximum operational efficiency and minimum down time.
•Communicate maintenance requirements to ensure maximum efficiency and implement correction actions as required.
•Identify maintenance employee training requirements and ensure successful completion.
•Implement established preventative maintenance programs to ensure maximum operational efficiency and minimum down time.
•Affect timely repairs when equipment failures occur.
•Responsible for maintenance and DOT compliance of fleet vehicles and equipment.
•Oversee and review all service failures, define root cause and develop corrective actions.
•Analyze maintenance costs and provide recommendations on equipment.
•Plans and implements policies and procedures on transportation security issues.
QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes, knowledge, or competencies as minimum qualifications for this role.
•Must have thorough knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance and DOT regulations.
•Must have general computer skills easily adaptable to learning new computer programs.
•Must be able conduct his/her self in a profession manner when dealing with fellow managers, employees, clients and vendors.
•Must have a working knowledge of maintenance systems.
•Must have good written and oral communication skills.
•Must be familiar with heavy truck/ trailer experience and maintenance.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Must have minimum 7 years’ fleet maintenance management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working Knowledge of Federal and State regulations and safety operations.
