The Vice President of Sales provides leadership, direction, and resource stewardship to the organization's sales function. As the organization’s senior-most sales leader, the VP of Sales is accountable for overall sales performance, the profitable achievement of the sales goals, and for aligning sales objectives with the company’s business strategy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Align the sales objectives with the company’s business strategy through active participation in corporate strategic planning, sales strategy development, forecasting, sales resource planning, and budgeting.
Accountable for effective organizational design, including sales job roles, sales channel design, and sales resource deployment.
Meets assigned targets for profitable sales volume, market share, and other key financial performance objectives.
Promote positive relations with vendors, and distributors.
Establishes the sales organization's performance management system.
Provides leadership to the sales management team, while fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, high-performance, and ethical behavior.
Through active partnership with corporate training, the VP of Sales leads learning and development initiatives impacting the sales organization.
Leads change initiatives by continuously assessing the need for organizational change, champions change initiatives, and removes obstacles impeding constructive organizational change.
Collaborate with General Managers to manage inventory to align with company goals.
Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sales and marketing or related field, MBA desired.
Minimum fifteen years of sales management experience in a business-to-business sales environment / heavy duty truck/equipment sales experience.
Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to modify communication style to negotiate and communicate with a variety of customers - internally and externally.
Demonstrated sense of urgency, focused on follow through and closing deals.
Experience in strategic planning and execution.
Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
Knowledge of structuring sales quota goals and revenue expectations.
Experience in planning marketing strategies, advertising campaigns, and successful public relations efforts.
Ability to simultaneously manage several projects.
Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
