Description: Halvor Lines, Inc, a leading company in the transportation industry, is seeking a financial executive who will be an integral part of the management team. The ideal candidate will be hands-on leader who engages actively and personally with others, and is able to leverage the organization’s structure to accomplish goals and objectives. The individual will possess excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to work independently, exercise tact, discretion, and professionalism when dealing with internal and external customers, and handling sensitive and confidential information. This individual will work directly with the Chief Financial Officer, and will have daily interaction with all levels of the leadership team and be responsible for all of the day-to-day accounting, analytics and reporting responsibilities necessary for the company. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include: • Developing and maintaining best practices and procedures related to internal control and accounting and financial practices. • Demonstrate a strong drive for results, and an ability to overcome obstacles to deliver those results. • Focused on improving service levels, reducing costs, driving appropriate standardization, and reporting results timely and accurately. • Champion and build a culture of control and accountability to minimize financial exposure. • Monitoring and reviewing compliance of the accounting and reporting process. • Responsible for the overall system of internal controls and risk management to safeguard the assets of the Company. • Drive improvements utilizing financial metrics that lead to business process improvement initiatives. • Overseeing the monthly accounting close process, including all journal entries and account reconciliation. • Oversee bi-monthly payroll process, payroll taxes, employee benefit payments, and reconciliations. • Providing required financial reports, project updates, and analysis to the leadership team as it relates to monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial performance in a timely manner to enhance business decisions. • Assist CFO with projects, financial information requests including financial reports and budgets for related entities.
• Proven track record of consistently working to identify ways to raise standards, simplify or eliminate work, and bring clarity to communication of results and the resulting implications. • Partnering with executive management to provide financial leadership and support across all areas of the company including developing and maintaining divisional operating income, budgets and forecasts. • Assist in creating processes that will define how the business will operate into the future. • Coordinating and/or providing technical training to staff on complex accounting matters. • Develop personnel within the group to assume other positions in accounting and finance.
Education/Experience: • Minimum Bachelors’ degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field. • Five years verifiable experience with leadership of Accounting or Finance. • CPA designation a plus. • Experience in the transportation industry a plus.
