The Director of Carrier Sales has the primary responsibility for setting and driving the company’s overall strategic Carrier Sales vision, creating and implementing a comprehensive carrier procurement strategy, leading departmental organization and recruitment, nurturing carrier relationships, and ensuring continued growth and success in the department. This role requires a strong leadership presence and is expected to bring energy and motivation to the team. The Director of Carrier Sales is expected to be a role model for their department, providing clear objectives for success, exceptional communication, and superior critical thinking and work ethic.
The role will need to have a successful background in carrier sales and management and an ability to thrive in a fast pace environment. The ability to innovate strategic solutions and then successfully implement at a tactical level is essential to this position. This role will be expected to work closely with other department leaders and senior executives in the organization, in particular regarding new technology-driven offerings. Possessing a self-starter mentality, who is able to bring ownership and accountability to this role and department is vital to Spot achieving its goal of becoming a technological leader in the third-party logistics industry.
Responsible for creating and the execution of the organization’s future carrier sales and carrier relationship visions.
Oversee carrier sales processes, sales pipeline, and carrier retention
Create and drive a company-wide carrier development plan that successfully allows the organization to meet its monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals and initiatives
Cultivate a high performing culture of excellence by building employee skills through coaching, mentoring, and ongoing training and development of the team and department
Attract, develop, and retain top talent in the logistics and transportation industries
Oversee Carrier Sales Managers and Carrier Sales Reps
Work in partnership with senior leaders of the company to develop a perspective on future organizational needs
Bachelor's Degree in Sales, Business Management, Supply Chain/Logistics, or related field
Minimum of 8-10 years' professional sales experience in the logistics or freight industry, 3rd party logistics experience preferred.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in people management, with proven success developing talent
Expert-level analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Experience in a fast-paced/startup environment, with a focus on bringing unique technology to the market is strongly desired
Strong executive presence; able to influence and represent the needs of the business to multiple stakeholder groups at all levels
Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency, problem solver who takes initiative
Proven ability to succeed with minimal guidance, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and take initiative under ambiguous circumstances
